Nottingham Forest fans are far from impressed that an offer has been submitted to sign Celtic’s midfield maestro Arne Engels.

The Tricky Trees are reportedly leading the race for the 22-year-old, who won a domestic double with the Hoops last season.

Forest tried to sign Engels in the winter window, but saw multiple offers rejected for the midfielder.

Now, amid reports that the East Midlands outfit are pushing for the signing once more, fans are not happy.

Many fear that the midfielder is simply not good enough to make the step up to the Premier League for the 2026-27 campaign.

Engels netted five goals in the Scottish Premiership last season, and picked up three assists.

Nottingham Forest fans do not rate Arne Engels

Engels has attracted plenty of interest this summer transfer window.

The 22-year-old has been a key player for Celtic since he moved from Augsburg in 2024.

As a result, according to Voetbalkrant on 11 July, multiple clubs are chasing the Celtic star, with Nottingham Forest leading the race.

The Tricky Trees are pushing hard to complete the signing, with a formal offer being submitted.

However, while Oliver Glasner is clearly keen on the Hoops star, the City Ground faithful are not impressed.

Many took to X to complain about the potential signing, deeming the player not good enough to make an impact next season.

Who else are Nottingham Forest looking to sign this summer?

Recent reports have indicated that Forest are looking to sign Palmeiras ace Mauricio this summer transfer window.

The attacking midfielder is reportedly valued between £18.7million and £22.3m after another wonderful season in the Brazilian top flight, where he helped the club lift the Campeonato Paulista title.

Forest are clearly keen to improve their attacking options ahead of the summer transfer window and have identified the 25-year-old as a potential signing.

Mauricio took part in the 2026 World Cup and helped Paraguay reach the round of 16 before they were knocked out by France, and had previously netted in the 4-1 defeat to the US in the group stages.

However, it remains to be seen if Forest follows up their interest with a bid as they look to improve their squad ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.
