Sources: Celtic and Rangers face new Elijah Just transfer hurdles amid 'open race'
Celtic and Rangers are facing new hurdles in the race for Motherwell winger Elijah Just this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
A strong World Cup with New Zealand has spiked further interest in the 26-year-old in England and across Europe.
Sources have indicated that it is currently an "open race" for the wideman's signature this summer, meaning the Old Firm duo have a battle on their hands.
Just is into the final year of his contract at Motherwell, and it is understood that the required fee to sign him will be well below the £5million mark as a result.
He has recently made it clear that he wants to be playing at the highest possible level next term, as a move away from Fir Park appears increasingly likely.
Just was one of the standout performers in the Scottish Premiership last term, as he notched seven goals and seven assists in league action.
Elijah Just's impressive World Cup
Both Celtic and Rangers have been eyeing up moves for Just in recent months, while interest from English Championship clubs has also been prevalent.
However, after a strong showing at the World Cup, the wideman now looks set to have a far wider array of options available to him for his next move.
He scored twice to help his country to a 2-2 draw with Iran in their group stage opener, before another strike in their heavy 5-1 defeat to Belgium capped off an impressive tournament for him at individual level.
The eyes of world football have been trained on North America in recent weeks, and Just has caught the eye of a huge number of clubs.
Motherwell are aware that it will be hugely difficult for them to keep hold of their star for another season, but are keen to maximise their financial gain as much as possible.
Celtic and Rangers in battle for Swedish Allsvenskan star
Football Insider revealed earlier this week that Celtic and Rangers are both keen on Orgryte IS defender Michael Parker.
The 21-year-old only joined the Swedish top-flight side from West Brom five months ago, but is already building a growing reputation for himself in the Allsvenskan.
Parker's form in recent months has seen him catch the eye of scouts on both side of the Old Firm divide, and both clubs are hoping to make a move this summer.
The Englishman can also play at left-back, and is on the radar of both Anderlecht and Udinese as well.
