Sources: Celtic make Johnny Kenny transfer decision as Millwall swoop

Celtic will consider any offers that come their way for young striker Johnny Kenny this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

Interest is building in the 23-year-old from clubs in the English Championship, with Millwall strong admirers and Bolton also keen after his successful loan spell there last term.

Martin O'Neill opted to ship the youngster out on loan back in January, and it is understood that Kenny will find it "difficult" to win his place back at his parent club this summer.

Sources have indicated that the Bhoys are looking to bolster their attacking options with new striker additions, and are ready to consider offers for Kenny as a result.

The youngster notched six goals and three assists in just 14 games for Bolton last term, as he helped them secure promotion from League One.

The interest in him from south of the border is expected to increase in the coming weeks now that Celtic are open to a summer sale.

No way back for Johnny Kenny at Celtic

Celtic had high hopes for Kenny when they signed him from Sligo Rovers back in 2022, but he has struggled to find consistency during his time at Parkhead.

A series of loan spells culminated in a 20-goal campaign for him at Shamrock Rovers in 2024, but he has since been unable to translate that form across to Celtic.

He managed four goals and two assists in 15 Scottish Premiership games at the start of last season, but came under fire amid a difficult period for the team.

The quality of Kenny's finishing came under major scrutiny from the supporters, and the club were keen to upgrade at the earliest opportunity.

The Ireland international made a big impact during his stint with Bolton, and they are hoping to land him permanently after their promotion.

However, they look likely to face significant competition for the frontman's signature, with Celtic unlikely to let him back into the fold.

Kelechi Iheanacho wants Celtic stay

Football Insider revealed at the end of June that Kelechi Iheanacho is keen to stay at Celtic next season, and the Bhoys have now put a contract offer on the table for the veteran striker.

The former Manchester City man has had interest from clubs in the Turkish Super Lig in recent weeks, but is understood to be giving priority to staying at Celtic Park.

Iheanacho netted five goals in just 13 games in the Scottish Premiership last term, including some crucial strikes in the latter stages of his team's push for the league title.

The 29-year-old dealt with several injury issues throughout the season, but became a key figure for O'Neill when he was fit.
