Radek Vitek is keen to leave Manchester United amid strong interest from Celtic at the moment, sources have told Football Insider

The Czech goalkeeper has emerged as a clear target for the Glasgow giants, who are hoping to make him their new number one ahead of next season.

Vitek starred during a loan spell at Bristol City last season, but has now returned to Old Trafford, where he is firmly below the trio of Senne Lammens, Altay Bayindir and Tom Heaton in the pecking order.

Sources say that the 22-year-old wants to continue playing regular first-team football in 2026-27, having got 41 appearances under his belt during his latest loan spell.

Celtic can provide that for the starlet, with Martin O’Neill and the recruitment team in the market for a new starting gloveman as a clear priority.

Vitek kept 12 clean sheets for Bristol City last season, and secured a clean sweep at the club’s end-of-season awards night.

Radek Vitek seen as perfect replacement for Kasper Schmeichel

Celtic have viewed the goalkeeping department as a major area of priority ever since veteran Kasper Schmeichel picked up a shoulder injury back in February.

Back-up ‘keeper Viljami Sinisalo was called upon to help the team to a league and cup double in the latter stages of the season, while Schmeichel has now been forced into retirement.

The Bhoys’ board are happy with the job that Sinisalo did in the second half of 2025-26, but are hoping to bring in another option ahead of him in the coming weeks.

Celtic want to find a player they can use as a long-term project after Schmeichel’s exit, and Vitek fits that bill after a strong season in the English Championship, as Football Insider revealed last week.

He was Bristol City’s standout performer throughout his loan spell at Ashton Gate, while only three other ‘keepers in the division bettered his tally of clean sheets.

Vitek remains under contract at Old Trafford until the summer of 2028, but opportunities with his parent club are not expected to be on the horizon any time soon.

Celtic told offer will be accepted for Haissem Hassan ‘below his release clause'

Celtic to snatch World Cup star for cut-price fee

Football Insider revealed last week that Celtic are confident of being able to sign Real Oviedo winger Haissem Hassan for less than his £10million release clause this summer.

The wideman notched three assists in La Liga last term, and recently shone in Egypt’s defeat to Argentina in the last 16 of the World Cup.

Oviedo were relegated back to the Spanish second tier last season, and that combined with Hassan’s contract expiring in the summer of 2027 has left Celtic confident of a cut-price deal being agreed.

The Hoops have already seen one offer rejected for the 24-year-old, and it is likely to be matter of time before they make another attempt to sign him.
