Celtic defender Gustaf Lagerbielke is undergoing a medical at FC Twente on Tuesday after agreeing a deal, sources have told Football Insider.

The two clubs have agreed a season-long loan for the Sweden international, with a deal expected imminently.

The 24-year-old does not feature in Brendan Rodgers’ plans this season, and the centre-back will be searching for more game time with FC Twente.

He will act as a replacement for former FC Twente club captain Robin Propper, who joined Rangers this summer.

The Sweden international is under contract at Celtic Park until 2028.

Celtic are happy to let Gustaf Lagerbielke gain experience elsewhere

This transfer is seen as a positive situation for all parties, as Lagerbielke will develop with more playing time.

Lagerbielke hasn’t featured in any of Celtic’s matches so far this season, with Rodgers preferring other options.

During his time with the Scottish giants he has only made seven appearances in the Scottish Premiership, with playing time having been extremely limited.
