Former Arsenal striker Charlie Nicholas has claimed that Mauricio Pochettino will make a host of changes to his team when Tottenham face Rochdale in the FA Cup Fifth Round clash at Spotland on Sunday.

The Sky Sports pundit believes that the outstanding duo of Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen will be among those dropped from the team that drew 2-2 with Juventus on Tuesday and starts will be handed to Fernando Llorente and Moussa Sissoko in replacement.

Llorente, 32, has been unable to get among the goals as often he would have liked since joining Spurs from Swansea in the summer.

He has made 25 appearances in all competitions for the North London club but has found the net just twice.

Sissoko, 28, has shown major improvements to his form in the opening few weeks of the season, but the France international has started to slip back into his poor performances of last term.

Either way, Nicholas believes that the pair will be thrust into the starting line-up this weekend.

“Mauricio Pochettino will make a good few changes because that show of mental strength in Juventus will have been a really draining experience,” he said on the Sky Sports website.

“Fernando Llorente and Moussa Sissoko will come in as Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen in particular need a rest. Heung-min Son should start and with the new pitch, I think Spurs will get the job done.

“I think this will be another game for Toby Alderweireld to be eased back in again. I don’t think there is anything more to his absence than managing his recovery because Pochettino is a very honest and open man.”

Kane, 24, has been in sensational form this season, scoring 33 goals in 34 appearances across all competitions.

Eriksen, 25, is also in fine form and scored a decisive equaliser against Juve on Tuesday.

The Denmark international has scored nine goals and supplied eight assists in both domestic and European contests.

Spurs had to earn a replay win against Newport County at Wembley to make it this far in the FA Cup.

That and a 3-0 win against AFC Wimbledon mean that Pochettino’s men are yet to be tested with a draw against a Premier League opponent.

Rochdale have made it this far by seeing off the likes of Bromley, Slough, Doncaster and Millwall.
