West Ham’s midfield enforcer Cheikhou Kouyate has told that Tottenham are a “very good team” following his side’s 3-2 defeat against Mauricio Pochettino’s side on Saturday.
The two London rivals faced each other at the weekend at the London stadium with Slaven Bilic’s side looking to get some points on the board, while Spurs were looking to keep the chase on those at the top of the table.
It was Tottenham who finished as victors too with two goals coming from Harry Kane alongside a Christian Eriksen effort giving Spurs a comfortable 3-0 lead before Javier Hernandez and Kouyate scored in a nervy finish for the north London side.
Now, Kouyate has told that that he believes Tottenham to be a good team and one that West Ham can’t afford to make mistakes against.
“Everyone knows they are a very good team and that you can’t make mistakes against Tottenham, but everyone needs to keep their head up and work hard,” told Kouyate, as quoted by the official West Ham website.
“After the first half, we spoke with the manager and players and said ‘Guys, we need to push because we are 2-0 down and we need to give everything’. We gave everything, but the game was very bad for us so we need to stay focused and work hard.”
The win for Tottenham has meant that they now sit 14 places and seven points ahead of West Ham in the league table with Spurs sat in fourth place, while the Hammers are sat in the relegation zone in 18th.
Tottenham’s next match will see them travel to APOEL Nicosia on Tuesday evening in the Champions League before then travelling to the north of England to face newly promoted Huddersfield.
