Chelsea and Aston Villa's transfer dealings are unlikely to be blocked due to the Premier League’s rules not being set up well enough.

That is the view of finance expert Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider questions are going to be asked about the £19million deal for Omari Kellyman because of his age and lack of first-team experience.

The deal for Kellyman is not the only transfer to have taken place between Villa and Chelsea over the past week, with both Premier League clubs believed to be close to breaching the profit and sustainability rules (PSR).

It has now emerged the Premier League has written to all 20 top-flight clubs to remind them of the “good faith” regulations regarding transfers after several deals have been pushed through before the 30 June accounting deadline.

Chelsea could face questions after Omari Kellyman deal

Borson believes it will be “very difficult” for the Premier League to definitively challenge any of the deals that have taken place so far.

“I think the bigger you go in size, the more deals are going to get looked at,” Borson told Football Insider.

“Nobody is going to look at Lewis Dobbin for £10million.

“It’s very hard to say a £10million young player is overpriced because it’s a very difficult, subjective issue.

“But once you start going to £20million for players who are 18 and have almost never played for the first team, clearly people are going to say ‘Is there something odd there?’.

“But I think the rules are not set up particularly well to block these deals or to challenge them.

“It’s very difficult to definitively challenge any of those deals that have been done so far.”
