Chelsea odds-on favourites to sign Adam Wharton after 'source's' reveal

Adam Wharton's future as a Crystal Palace player remains up in the air amid strong interest from Manchester City and Chelsea.

Pierre Sage's side are trying everything to keep the England international this summer, and there are only a few days left to keep hold of him.

However, rumours and reports are ramping up in the final days of the summer window, and it would be difficult to turn down a big-money offer.

Sources told Football Insider earlier this week, though, that the Eagles will not allow Wharton to depart Selhurst Park this late in the window.

Palace will certainly want to totally rule out a last-gasp exit for the 22-year-old, but nothing can ever be guaranteed in a Premier League transfer window.

Man City had previously been leading the race for Wharton's signature, at least according to the bookmakers, but that appears to have changed.

Just one week ago, Enzo Maresca's side were 7/2 to win the midfielder's signature. That has now changed ahead of the transfer market closing.

Chelsea have now emerged as the favourites, being priced at 2/1 to sign Wharton and add him to an already-stacked midfield at Stamford Bridge.

The Citizens are only narrowly behind them, being priced at 3/1, but the Eagles will want to do everything to stop both of them sealing a deal.

Even with just five days remaining until the window slams shut, there is plenty of time for twists and turns at Selhurst Park, and not just with Wharton.

Ismaila Sarr is also a huge talking point for the West London club, with Liverpool now working on a deal to sign the exciting goal-hungry winger.

Who else could leave Crystal Palace this summer?

Much like Unai Emery's Aston Villa, Palace's squad is being ripped apart this summer, and fans are not overly excited by the incomings.

Daniel Munoz and Jean-Philippe Mateta are likely to be the subject of great transfer interest over the coming days as well, and could be the next to leave.

The Eagles kicked off their Premier League campaign with a 2-0 defeat to Everton, and there was very little to like about the performance.

Losing Sarr would be the biggest hit of them all, though, and all signs currently point towards Palace having to let him go before the window closes.
