Chelsea could be set to raid Brighton once again as future south coast star Relebohile Mofokeng stars for South Africa.

The Blues have made a habit of signing Brighton's upcoming stars in recent years to aid their own pursuit of success.

Reports have claimed that the Seagulls have sold over £250million worth of talent to Stamford Bridge during their current Premier League stint.

South African starlet Mofokeng looks set to join Brighton soon as he impresses for sister club Union Saint-Gilloise.

The 21-year-old's latest performance proves that he is surely on the right track to be another Seagulls star who could make the move to Chelsea in the coming years.

Mofokeng is one of South Africa's biggest hopes right now and he starred in their win over Eritrea on Wednesday.

Relebohile Mofokeng on course to be a Chelsea star in next few years

Mofokeng emerged as a key man for South African club Orlando Pirates in 2024, registering 23 goals and 22 assists in 85 appearances for the club across two seasons.

He made the £2.5million move to Belgian side USG in the summer, and has already registered four goals and one assist in nine games so far this term.

The 21-year-old produced the best international performance of his short career so far in midweek, scoring twice for South Africa in a 5-0 battering of Eritrea.

Mofokeng took the most touches (8) in the opposition box, most shots (6) and completed the most dribbles (4) of any player, while creating three chances, making 10 ball recoveries and winning all seven ground duels he attempted.

It was a performance for the ages by the 21-year-old that is only likely to fuel reports in his home country of Brighton lining him up for a move to the Premier League in an upcoming transfer window.

Tony Bloom has already shown a willingness to transfer players between the club he owns, with Promise David joining the Seagulls from USG in the summer.

Mofokeng's talent and lofty potential has him on course to be a real star for Brighton when he inevitably makes the switch.

Chelsea will surely be monitoring him before long, as they have done with so many key Seagulls players in the years gone by.

South African media tip Mofokeng for big things after 'outstanding' performance

Mofokeng was included in South Africa's World Cup squad in the summer, but was unable to make his mark in a disappointing tournament for the national team.

Footballing fans across the country are clearly excited about what the future holds with him in the team, as shown by the reaction of national media to his midweek performance.

The Citizen wrote: "Mofokeng was just brilliant, showing exactly why he is the most promising of an excellent crop of young Bafana stars. He smashed a shot against the post, and then netted a brace before half time. If his career continues on this trajectory, who knows how far ‘President Yama2K can go?"

While The South African also praised him, saying: "Mofokeng, Bafana Bafana‘s ace, scored twice and produced an outstanding all-round performance, showing his quality both with and without the ball."
