Peter Schmeichel reveals what Liam Rosenior has privately told Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen

Liam Rosenior's decision to start Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen in the Champions League clash against PSG has now been explained.

The 41-year-old boss recalled the Dane to the starting XI in place of Robert Sanchez, as he made his first appearance for the Blues since the clash with Pafos on 21 January.

Jorgensen has primarily featured in the domestic cup competitions for Rosenior's side so far this term, but he played in their midweek trip to face PSG, and he endured a difficult night with some key errors in his team's 5-2 defeat.

Chelsea face PSG in the return leg at Stamford Bridge next Tuesday, and Jorgensen is expected to get the start between the posts once again.

Sanchez has faced criticism from both fans and pundits of late, as his inconsistent form has returned to plague Chelsea in recent weeks.

Rosenior finally made the decision to bring in a fresh face between the posts for the trip to the French capital, but his gamble didn't pay off, as they returned home facing a three-goal deficit.

However, Jorgensen's involvement as the Blues' starting gloveman is unlikely to end there, as the pecking order at Stamford Bridge appears to have been adjusted for good by the boss.

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel suggested during CBS Sports' coverage of the clash that Rosenior has explicitly told Jorgensen that he is now the number one goalkeeper at the club.

The Dane suggested that his countryman had been told directly by Rosenior that it is now his shirt to lose, with Sanchez's chance seemingly having come to an end.

Robert Sanchez could be sold as part of 'very busy' Chelsea summer

Former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness recently told Football Insider that Chelsea are set for a "very busy" summer in the transfer market, with the club now reliant on player dealings to provide the bulk of their revenue.

The West Londoners made a pre-tax loss of £342million across the 2024-25 campaign, and Wyness believes that significant sales will be necessary in order to counter that this summer.

That could potentially put Sanchez's place in the squad under serious threat, given that he may now have lost his starting spot for good.

The former Brighton man is a player who will still command some value in the transfer market, and Chelsea could be about to exploit that this summer.
