Manchester City are bookies favourites to complete a deal for Chelsea star Enzo Fernandez this summer after his World Cup heroics for Argentina.

The 25-year-old midfielder netted a superb late equaliser against England as the South American nation went on to win the semi-final tie 2-1.

Fernandez’s future at Chelsea had been heavily speculated on before the tournament, with Real Madrid linked to the star.

However, one bookmaker has now slashed the odds of Man City completing a deal this summer down to 6/1.

The Citizens are now into a new era at the club as Enzo Maresca looks to repeat the success Pep Guardiola had at the club.

Now, the manager could look to reunite with his former midfielder, with both Maresca and Fernandez previously working together at Chelsea.

Man City could secure statement Enzo Fernandez signing

Despite a tricky 2025-26 campaign, Fernandez has once again shown his quality in the 2026 World Cup.

The midfielder netted one of the goals of the tournament against England, and could be about to secure back-to-back World Cup titles.

As a result, if City can complete the signing of the 25-year-old, it would be a real statement by the club.

Despite being the dominant side in the Premier League for the past decade, the club have failed to win the title in their past two campaigns.

Going into the 2026-27 season, Arsenal are no doubt favourites to retain the trophy, and Liverpool are likely to be in the mix too.

Therefore, signing a player like Fernandez would be a real statement by City, showing the rest of the Premier League that the club will be seriously challenging for the title.

Who else is linked with Fernandez?

As it stands, Real Madrid are the favourites to secure a deal for Fernandez at 5/2.

The Spanish giants have been heavily linked with the midfielder for months and could be tempted to make a move once the World Cup ends.

Bayern Munich are yet to be ruled out of a potential deal at 9/1 as they look to once again lift the Bundesliga title.

Potential outsiders include Atletico Madrid at 14/1 and Arsenal at 16/1.

Nevertheless, it remains to be seen where Fernandez will be playing his football during the 2026-27 campaign.
