Exclusive: Chelsea in advanced talks to agree Jesse Derry deal after approaches
Chelsea are in advanced talks over a new deal for teenage winger Jesse Derry, sources have told Football Insider.
The Blues are working to tie the 19-year-old down to a long-term Stamford Bridge contract after recent approaches from both Bayern Munich and Juventus in the last few days.
Derry is one of Chelsea's leading youth talents at the moment, and his progress has alerted some of Europe's top clubs.
Bayern and Juventus have both tried to snatch him away from Stamford Bridge, and that has prompted the club hierarchy to move to secure his future.
Derry made three senior appearances for Chelsea during the 2025-26 campaign, including his Premier League debut in the defeat to Nottingham Forest back in May.
He also shone for the West Londoners at youth level last term, notching seven goals and four assists in all competitions for the U21 side.
Chelsea closing in on securing Jesse Derry's future
The son of former Crystal Palace and Leeds midfielder Shaun, Derry has begun to force his way into the first-team reckoning at Stamford Bridge.
He broke through into the senior squad at times last season, and will be hoping to catch the eye of new boss Xabi Alonso in pre-season.
The starlet had been facing an uncertain future after the attempted moves from Bayern and Juventus, but Chelsea have no intention of losing him at this stage.
Derry has become a regular for England at U19 level, and is earmarked to have a huge future ahead of him at the top level.
Chelsea are now closing in on a deal to tie him down long-term, which will provide further protection against clubs elsewhere eyeing him up.
Chelsea seal move for another teenage sensation
Football Insider revealed at the start of June that Chelsea have won the race to sign Wigan Athletic sensation Harrison Bettoni.
Alonso's side have fought off competition from the likes of Manchester City and AC Milan for the 18-year-old's signature, after he burst onto the scene in League One last term.
The attacking midfielder struck three goals from just nine starts in league action last season, as he flourished during his first ever taste of senior football.
Bettoni's exploits have seen him earn a move to Stamford Bridge, with the deal now only awaiting confirmation in the coming weeks.
