Sources: What Chelsea must do to revive Lamine Camara deal

Chelsea will have to repair their relations with Monaco if they want to revisit their deal to sign midfielder Lamine Camara, sources have told Football Insider.

The Blues are understood to be "very angry" with the French side after they pulled the plug on the transfer in the final stages of the summer window, and believe they acted in an "unprofessional manner."

However, the West London outfit remain huge admirers of the Senegal international, and have not removed him from their radar after their failed attempt.

Sources say that a deal for Camara to join Chelsea is not necessarily "dead and buried," but it will be dependent on them repairing their relationship with Monaco behind the scenes.

The 22-year-old has returned to action for Monaco since his collapsed move to Stamford Bridge, and has started all four of his team's opening Ligue 1 games.

Camara's stock is higher than ever in the French top flight, and Chelsea are not ready to give up on signing him just yet.

Xabi Alonso still wants midfield reinforcements

Chelsea have enjoyed a bright start to the new Premier League campaign, but the midfield remains an area of concern for them.

Xabi Alonso's side ultimately allowed Enzo Fernandez to move to Manchester City in the final stages of the summer window, but ran out of time to bring a replacement.

Camara was intended to be that man, but the collapse of Everton's move for Folarin Balogun prompted Monaco to pull the plug.

Alonso and Co. are now short of depth at the base of the midfield, and that is something that they are keen to address during the mid-season window.

Camara remains an option for them, but it will not be straightforward for them to resurrect a deal.

Chelsea hit by new '£75m' blow

Former Manchester City financial advisor Stefan Borson told Football Insider last week that news of Mykhailo Mudryk's latest injury is a "disaster" for Chelsea.

The winger is on loan at Tottenham at the moment, but is already sidelined for two months due to a calf problem, which has cut short his return to football.

Borson believes that the Blues can "forget" about Spurs' £75million purchase option as part of the deal, and thinks that any chance of that clause being triggered will already have been written off.

Chelsea would have hoped to see Mudryk hit form and boost his transfer value during his loan spell, but things haven't gone to plan so far.
