Chris Sutton: Bayern Munich ace was petrified of this Celtic player in CL clash
By Danny Wright
Chris Sutton has claimed that Bayern Munich ace David Alaba was “petrified” of James Forrest after he ran the German side ragged on Tuesday night.
Forrest, 26, put in a man of the match performance at Parkhead, but couldn’t stop his side from losing 2-1 to Bayern to end their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League knock-out rounds in the New Year.
Brendan Rodgers’ side still have a great chance of finishing third in their group and getting in the Europa League’s final 32, with a point in their last two games against Anderlecht and Paris Saint-Germain likely to be enough.
On Halloween, it was far from a horror show from Celtic as they lost by just one goal when they should have really won.
Kingsley Coman made the most of a defensive lapse to put the German’s ahead before Javi Martinez rounded off the win shortly after Callum McGregor scored for Celtic.

McGregor latched on to a beautiful pass from Forrest to score for the Scottish champions and BT pundit Sutton has expressed his surprised by the winger’s ability to carve an opening for his team-mate in the way that he did.
“It’s not really something we’ve seen from James Forrest, that placed pass,” said Sutton in BT Sport ESPN’s post-match coverage of the Champions League clash on Tuesday night [10:00pm].
“Alaba was petrified all night. Every time he got the ball, they were backpedaling.”
