Chris Wood has played his last game for Newcastle United after what I've seen - pundit
Chris Wood has played his last game for Newcastle United.
That’s according to former Hibernian striker Tam McManus, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 30-year-old’s future,
Wood started as Newcastle beat Chelsea 1-0 in the Premier League on Saturday (12 November).
This was only his second Premier League start of the season though he has featured in all of Newcastle’s top-flight games bar one this term.
He scored his side’s second in a 4-1 win over Southampton on 6 November.
However, after failing to lay a glove on Chelsea, McManus claims Woods’s time at Newcastle may be over.

“Wood, he’s a decent squad player but you have Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak there,” McManus told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.
“They are proper number nines, proper strikers. I think Wood isn’t the player they really want in that team.
“I watch the game against Chelsea and he was trying his best to press, to get at the Chelsea defence but that isn’t his game.
“He feeds on long balls. Newcastle don’t play like that anymore so he is a bit lost. I think maybe he will be moved on in January.
“Isak is nearly fit again so I can’t see him getting any game time when the season starts again. I know he scored against Southampton but there are better players there unfortunately, it’s that simple.”
Wood scored twice in black and white last season after joining Newcastle in January.
He started in the absence of Callum Wilson, who missed the majority of the second half of the season through injury.
