Manager Thomas Christiansen has given an encouraging fitness update on Leeds United’s centre-back trio Pontus Jansson, Liam Copper and Matthew Pennington, stating they “could” all be back for Saturday’s clash against Ipswich.
Star Jansson missed the midweek League Cup penalty victory over Premier League side Burnley after the 26-year-old was brought off in the weekend defeat against Millwall due to a knock.
Meanwhile, Pennington has been forced to sit on the sidelines since the Everton loanee suffered an injury in the opening day win against Bolton, while Cooper has been out of the squad for the club’s last two clashes.
However, they could all now be in contention to return to the starting eleven this weekend after Christiansen told, as covered by Phil Hay via his personal Twitter account that the three may all be returning to face Mick McCarthy’s side.

Youngster Conor Shaughnessy has stepped up to the first team on six occasions this season due to the injuries and while he has been solid fans will certainly be delighted that the three centre-backs are all close to a return as they look to continue their impressive form.
The Yorkshire giants are currently sat at the top of the Championship table after eight league games and they will be looking to pick up a further three points against fifth placed Ipswich at Elland Road on Saturday.
