Club chief confirms extended Leeds transfer mission after reported hunt for red hot hitman

Peterborough United owner Darragh MacAnthony has confirmed that Leeds United scouts have been a regular present at the League One side’s recent games as they look at potential transfer targets.
The Whites have been heavily linked with a move for the Posh’s red hot hitman Jack Marriott, with the Mirror claiming that Thomas Christiansen’s side are among the front runners for his capture, alongside Championship rivals Hull City.
Now, after being probed about whether officials from Leeds had been attending games at London Road, MacAnthony confirmed via his personal Twitter account that they had been watching on recently, revealing that they had been engaged on an extended transfer mission.

Marriott, 23, has been in imperious form in front of goal this season, netting 23 goals in 38 appearances across all competitions, 17 of those strikes coming in League One.

Leeds may well not be happy with MacAnthony’s honest admissions on Twitter as it is revealing their ongoing transfer plans, having previously gone about their action without much noise at all. Still, for fans it will confirm that they are at least keeping tabs on one of the hottest pieces of property in the English leagues, and after their first half performances in front of goal, they could do with some increased firepower up top. It may well prove to be something of a transfer battle to secure his signing, not to mention a risk considering he is unproven in the Championship, but he appears to be exactly what the Whites need right now.
