Club president: Reported Tottenham attacking midfielder can leave if £17m release clause triggered

Rafa Silva could be nearing a move to Tottenham after Braga President Antonio Salvador revealed they are vulnerable to a club triggering his £17million release clause.

The Mirror claim the Spurs will make a formal move for the Portugal international after monitoring him closely since last season.

Braga chief Salvador claimed that the Portuguese outfit have received multiple summer offers for the Euro 2016 star and even received an offer in January that was more than £17million but the player rejected the move

In quotes published by Portuguese outlet MaisFutebol, Salvador explained that Braga have a turnover of players every year and are prepared to replace the Euro 2016 star if needs be.

“If Rafa leaving? As you know he has a 20 million Euro termination clause,” he said. “There have been clubs that offered twenty million, there was one in January that gave up more than twenty million and the player showed no interest in going there.

“Rafa has three more years of contract and he knows what Braga want. I liked to be with him, have said so, but if it turns out we will work to replace as well.”

Silva helped Braga win the Portuguese Cup last season and was part of the Portgual squad that won Euro 2016.

Silva played a staggering 50 games last season in all competitions for Braga, scoring 12 goals and providing eight assists.

The number 18 still has three years to run on his current deal in his home country but could be tempted by a move to the Premier League.
