Confirmed: Agent reveals transfer hunt for reported Everton and Newcastle attacking target
The agent of Galatasaray winger Garry Rodrigues has confirmed that there are a host of sides across Europe who are hunting the signing of the reported Newcastle United and Everton transfer target.
The Magpies and the Toffees are both registered on Turkish football news outlet Futbol Arena as having sent scouts to watch the 27-year-old Cape Verde international in action for his club, ahead of a potential move over the summer.
Now the fleet footed attacker’s agent, Ceylan Caliskan, has confirmed there are several sides who are keeping close tabs on his client, but insists that the winger is happy at his current club for now.
He told Futbol Arena: “Many clubs in Europe are watching Garry Rodrigues.
“Rodrigues has a big exit with the arrival of Fatih Terim. Rodrigues is very happy at Galatasaray.”
Rodrigues has made 28 appearances for the Turkish top flight side this season, chipping in with six goals and nine assists across all competitions.
Football Insider verdict
Increased interest in Rodrigues is not going to be what Newcastle or Everton wanted to hear, as it just suggests that there will be a bidding war for his services come the summer window. Of course, this has come straight from the mouth of the agent, who will no doubt want to be drumming up the interest in his man, so these quotes should be taken with a pinch of salt. Still, if either Premier League side are going to secure his capture, it could cost a pretty penny, and there may well be other, more value-for-money, options out there by the time the end of the season comes around.
In other Newcastle United news, one midfield maestro is set for a recall to the starting XI for when Liverpool play host to the Magpies on Saturday.
