Harry McKirdy has joined Crewe Alexander on loan until the end of the season.
It marks the second loan signing of the day for Crewe who also completed a deal for Newcastle’s Dan Barlaser.
The 20-year-old striker has previous experience at this level, after spending a half season on loan at Stevenage in 2016 where he made 11 appearances in League 2.
He has yet to make a senior appearance for Aston Villa and goes out in search of valuable game-time.

Football Insider verdict:
This is a good move for McKirdy, although it won’t be easy at Crewe. He scored just one goal in league 2 last time around and he’ll be hoping to make more of an impression at Crewe who are currently struggling at the wrong end of the table. The rest of the season will be a battle and it’s up to McKirdy to prove his mettle in a tough uncompromising league. If he can bed in and start scoring goals, and possibly help steer Crewe away from trouble, he could convince Steve Bruce that he’s got a future at Villa Park.
