Newcastle United goalkeeper Martin Dubravka has confirmed that he is looking to seal a permanent move to the club “soon” with talks over a transfer planned for the coming weeks.
The Magpies shot stopper has been a revelation in the English top flight since arriving from Sparta Prague in January, playing minute since his impressive debut against Manchester United, in which he played a crucial role on the way to a 1-0 win.
He kept another clean sheet in the club’s final match of the season, a 3-0 win against Chelsea, which helped the Slovakian international and his team mates to finish in the top 10, and with the transfer window coming up, has revealed he is looking to get a permanent move in the coming weeks.
Speaking to Lee Ryder, as quoted on the journalist’s personal Twitter account, the 29-year-old said he hoped a move would be completed “soon”, and talks were on their way.
Spoke to Martin Dubravka after the game and he is hopeful to complete his move to #nufc "soon". Talks with the club and agent to follow.

Football Insider verdict
There will be very few Newcastle fans who would not want Dubravka seal a long-term deal on Tyneside after his impressive performances this season and it looks as though they may well get their wish. While Karl Darlow and Rob Elliot did little wrong during their spells between the sticks, the Slovakian star has brought another element to the back line with his confidence and communication, and it seems a no-brainer decision to activate the purchase clause in the shot stopper’s contract. The Toon Army will be hoping that he is the first of many signings this summer to try and strengthen the squad, and fellow January loanee Kenedy would be another the supporters would like to see stay at St James’ Park. However Dubravka certainly seems the most likely to commit his future on Tyneside, and hearing his desperation to get that move confirmed sooner rather than later is exactly what fans want to see from their latest star.
