Premier League manager Paul Clement has confirmed that the deal for Neil Taylor moving to Aston Villa and Jordan Ayew moving to Swansea is nearly done.

Left-back Taylor is set to make a switch from the Swans’ relegation battle to helping Steve Bruce secure promotion in the second tier.

Meanwhile, versatile attacker Ayew, who is currently away at the Africa Cup of Nations, is set to move up a division.

Wales international Taylor is now set to provide competition with Villa’s first choice left-back Jordan Amavi.

If the deal is finalised, the 27-year-old will become the club’s sixth January signing while Ayew would be the fourth player to leave the club.

Here is Premier League boss Clement confirming the news regarding Taylor and Ayew as posted by Swansea’s official Twitter account.

“That is not done yet but it is close to being done.,” said Clement. “Ayew can play wide or through the middle and I like that versatility.

“Neil has been a great servant to this club but feel it is right time for new challenge and he would like to take it.”

Taylor has played 13 games in all competitions for his current side, while Ayew has played 21 Championship matches, scoring just two goals.

Football Insider verdict:

Ayew moving to Swansea is a good piece of business for the Premier League club because they need some much-needed firepower to avoid relegation. They showed during their win against Liverpool last time out that they can produce the goods when needed. Supporters may question Clement’s decision to add Ayew to his ranks, but as was proven at Anfield, so far his January additions have worked out. The Ghana international will add some much-needed pace in the final third which will suit the likes of Fernando Llorente and Gylfi Sigurðsson. Not only that, Ayew has experience of the Premier League, even though his debut stint resulted in relegation.
