Contact made as Tottenham star tops European giants' four-man shortlist - report
By Russell Edge
There has been contact between Harry Kane and Real Madrid as the Tottenham man tops their shortlist to replace Karim Benzema, according to a report.
Spanish football news website Diario Gol claim that the 24-year-old likes the idea of a move to Spain and that there has been discussions over him arriving at the Bernabeu.
Interest in Kane is said to come as a result of French forward Benzema’s poor form this season, which has seen the striker net just twice in 12 appearances across all competitions, with just one of those goals coming in their La Liga campaign.
As a result of his disappointing performances, it is said that the chiefs at Real have drawn up a list of four top class strikers, with Kane heading Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann, Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski and Juventus’ Paulo Dybala.
Kane has been in imperious form over the past few years, netting over 20 goals in each of the last three league campaigns, and has two successive Premier League golden boot awards to his name.

News that contact has been made between Kane and Los Blancos will come as a concern for Tottenham fans, as will the report that he is open to a potential move. Still, as with every transfer story, it should be taken with a pinch of salt, and it seems that Real Madrid are more keen on snapping him up than him departing Tottenham. However, while there is almost certainly a slow burning interest, if Benzema’s poor form continues then the club might have to ramp up their desire to secure their top target. The mentioned shortlist is full of talent, which means that Real may move on swiftly if Daniel Levy digs his feet in, but the Spanish giants have a tendency of having everything their own way.
In other Tottenham transfer news, the club are lining up a bid for this 27-year-old pass master.
