Contact made: West Ham poised for late £20m swoop for PL enforcer in cut-price deal – Sky

West Ham are plotting a late swoop for Everton’s defensive midfield enforcer Morgan Schneiderlin, according to a report.
Sky Sports claim on their transfer blog (13.59) that their sources have told them West Ham have contacted Everton about a move and are ready to pay £20m for the player.
The player signed for Everton from Man United just last January for a sum of £24m.
The 28-year-old has made 19 Premier League appearances for Everton this season but has come in for criticism from fans at Goodison for his performances.
Sky say that West Ham want two more deals before the window shuts – a midfielder and a striker.
Football Insider verdict:
This one seems odd to us. Everton might be willing to sell for less than they paid Man United for the player but he hasn’t had a great first half of the season. And, if West Ham had £20m to spend, surely they would be prioritising a striker first? There are plenty of decent options around that level and Hammers fans would much prefer a fresh source of goals than a defensive midfielder who hasn’t excelled this season.
