Conte has already held Tottenham signing 'talks' after director reveal - pundit

Antonio Conte will have already held “talks” with Tottenham chiefs about January transfer targets, according to Danny Mills.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Premier League and England star insisted “no manager in his right mind” would take a job before discussing transfer business.

As quoted by football.london (November 3), sporting director Fabio Paratici revealed he had held no transfer talks with Conte ahead of his appointment.

Paratici insisted they have full faith in their current playing squad and no budget had been set for the winter transfer window.

A Tottenham source told Football Insider (November 2) the new manager has mentioned Inter Milan colossus Stefan de Vrij and believes a January deal can be done.

Conte oversaw a 3-2 win over Vitesse in his first game in charge before guiding them to a 0-0 draw away to Everton in his first Premier League game.

“They must have had [transfer] chats, they must have had talks about what is next, what comes next,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“No manager in his right mind would surely go into the job without talking about potential transfer targets and how much money is going to be available.

“I’d be very, very surprised if they hadn’t had those conversations.

“They might not admit it publicly, but I would be incredibly surprised if they hadn’t had those discussions.”

Tottenham added four new players to the squad over the summer.

Pierluigi Gollini and Cristian Romero both moved on loan from Atalanta while Bryan Gil and Emerson Royal signed permanently.
