Costa faces Bielsa showdown talks amid Leeds 'surplus to requirements' claim - pundit

Kevin Campbell claims Helder Costa faces showdown talks with Marcelo Bielsa over his Leeds United future.

The former Arsenal striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, reacted to Bielsa’s latest update on Costa.

Ahead of Saturday’s win over Spurs, Bielsa revealed Costa, 27, will play no further part in Leeds’ season.

The attacker has missed Leeds’ last two games with a back injury that now looks to have ended his season.

Football Insider revealed in March the Yorkshire giants are willing to listen to offers for Costa in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Campbell insists Costa has had a good season for Leeds and tipped showdown talks with Bielsa over his Elland Road future.

“I thought he’s done alright this season,” Campbell told Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs.

“Leeds have had a decent season back in the top flight. No relegation issues or anything like that.

“There’s still a lot to play for. Costa, will he still be there next season? I don’t know. Bielsa and the guys will speak to the player and sort it out.

“They will look at whatever they need to look at. If he is surplus to requirements they will move him on.”

Costa has two goals and three assists to his name after 22 appearances in the Premier League this season.

He started Leeds’ first eight games of the season before being dropped to the bench and experiencing more sporadic appearances in the first team.
