Couto will be 'itching' to sign for Celtic after being given guided tour of club - pundit
Noel Whelan has claimed Celtic supporters will have played a big part in convincing Manchester City starlet Yan Couto to join on loan.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Leeds striker suggested the Hoops’ charm offensive will have impressed the 19-year-old right-back.
As reported by the Scottish Sun (August 13th), Couto was a VIP guest for the Hoops’ Europa League qualifier against Jablonec.
City reportedly gave the youngster permission to travel to Glasgow as he considers the offer of a season-long loan move.
Couto watched on as the Hoops ran out 3-0 winners in front of a packed Parkhead.
Whelan insisted the youngster would have been impressed by the facilities on offer at Celtic.

However, he suggested the chance to play in front of the Celtic supporters could be the deciding factor.
“I don’t think there’s too many fans better than the Celtic ones in Scotland,” Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge.
“Obviously, they’ve got a reputation like Leeds, they travel anywhere. They’ve got great support, very passionate and a fantastic stadium and facilities so.
“He’d be stepping out of one club with great support and a great stadium into another one. This time he’ll be playing first-team football.
“I’m sure he’s been impressed by everything that you’ve seen. From the city of Glasgow, which is fantastic, I’ve lived by myself, it’s brilliant, to a fantastically supported football club.
“They’ve got all the mod cons you need we’ve all that. A great stadium, great training facilities, and a team at the minute that’s really thriving and buzzing. He’ll be itching to get started.”
Couto joined City last summer but spent the season on loan at Girona.
He played 30 times for the La Liga 2 side as they narrowly missed out on promotion.
