Crystal Palace 'ready move' for Antonio Nusa after World Cup transfer mission
Crystal Palace are among a number of Premier League clubs keeping tabs on RB Leipzig winger Antonio Nusa's diplays at the World Cup.
The Eagles considered a move for Nusa in 2024 as part of their efforts to replace Michael Olise, but ultimately opted against the deal due to his lofty price tag.
However, they are still keen to land a new winger two years later, as they prepare to back Pierre Sage by strengthening his squad following his arrival at Selhurst Park.
Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Crystal Palace scouts have been keeping a close eye on Nusa's displays at the World Cup.
Since missing out on a deal two summers ago, when the winger instead joined RB Leipzig, the Eagles have continued to keep tabs on his development.
Now, there have been suggestions that Nusa could be allowed to leave Leipzig this summer, and Crystal Palace are among a number of teams on high alert.
Could Crystal Palace return for Antonio Nusa?
Football Insider shared high praise for Nusa from Norwegian media after his goalscoring display in their 2-1 win against the Ivory Coast amid links with a move to England.
Crystal Palace are among the contenders to lure him to the Premier League, as they hope to strengthen their squad after winning the Conference League.
With plans now in place to back Sage in the market, a move for Nusa could be something the Eagles look to explore if he becomes available after the World Cup.
"Almost every club in the Premier League will have scouts at the World Cup," Brown told Football Insider.
"So when somebody like Nusa starts performing the way he has been, of course there are going to be a lot of teams considering moves to bring him to the Premier League.
"I always warn against signing players based on good performances at the World Cup, but for Crystal Palace, I'm told they have been interested in signing Nusa for a long time.
"They'll have been doing their homework on him and keeping tabs on his performances since they missed out on him before, and I'm sure they'll have been impressed at the World Cup.
"Palace want to back their new manager and they want to stay competitive after their recent success, so targeting players like that is definitely a step in the right direction."
Which other clubs are interested in signing Nusa?
Despite being long-term admirers of the winger, Crystal Palace are far from the only club who have been keeping tabs on Nusa's performances on the biggest stage.
His World Cup displays have inspired growing interest, with the likes of Aston Villa and Newcastle both believed to have been impressed by what they have seen.
Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed in May that Liverpool have been keeping tabs on Nusa's performances as they aim to bolster their wide options this summer.
Having missed out on the Leipzig winger's teammate Yan Diomande, the Reds are now assessing other options as they seek a replacement for Mohamed Salah.
However, any move for Nusa would likely see him become a backup option in Andoni Iraola's side, opening the door for rivals to offer him more regular playing time.
