How Tyrick Mitchell 'feels' about signing new Crystal Palace contract

Tyrick Mitchell is believed to be very happy at Crystal Palace as plans are being put in place to offer him a contract extension.

The 27-year-old has enjoyed a strong start to the season under Pierre Sage, where he remains a crucial part of the starting XI despite the arrival of Ben Chilwell.

He has been an ever-present at Selhurst Park since he made his senior debut in 2020, has played 247 games for the club, and is very highly regarded behind the scenes.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Mitchell is "loving life" at Crystal Palace and the option to sign a new contract should be a "no brainer".

Crystal Palace enjoyed a busy summer transfer window to bolster their squad, but have now turned to getting their star names tied down to extended deals.

Mitchell's current contract is set to expire next summer, but work is believed to be ongoing over an extension, with the club hopeful he will commit his long-term future.

Will Tyrick Mitchell sign a new Crystal Palace contract?

Brown told Football Insider on 7 September that Crystal Palace are planning to open talks with Mitchell over a contract extension before the turn of the year.

The left-back played a starring role in Palace's first win under Sage as he scored twice in a 3-2 win against Fulham in a dramatic comeback win at Craven Cottage.

His performances, consistency and positive attitude mean the club are keen to reward him with a new deal, while he is believed to be happy to extend his stay.

"By all accounts, Tyrick Mitchell is happy at Crystal Palace," Brown told Football Insider.

"He's a crucial part of their starting XI, an ever-present in the team even after the new manager arrived, and he's turning in impressive performances every single week.

"From his point of view, he's in a great situation and he's loving life at Palace, having been at the club for so long.

"He's been a big part of all of the success they've had, winning the FA Cup and the Conference League, and they're obviously hopeful of contintuing to add to that success.

"It's a no-brainer really, for the player, to extend his contract, probably increase his wages which always helps, and stay at the club where he has enjoyed such a strong few years.

"They are delighted with him so I'm sure efforts will be made to make sure he sticks around well into the future, because they rate and value him extremely highly."

Which clubs have shown an interest in signing Mitchell?

Mitchell's performances over the last few seasons have caught the eye of a number of clubs across English football, not just Crystal Palace, as he continues to impress.

While there has been little by way of incoming offers for the left-back, clubs have been keeping a close eye on his situation, and are believed to still be watching him in case he becomes available.

Brown told Football Insider last year that Arsenal were considering a move to sign Mitchell, but Crystal Palace have made clear they have no plans to lose him.

The left-back has caught the eye of a number of top clubs thanks to his consistency and defensive qualities, which have also made him a crucial player for the Eagles.

Should Palace prove unable to reach an agreement over his contract, clubs will be placed on high alert, but for now there are no concerns about his future at Selhurst Park.
