'Quite frankly, Grow up' - Expert rips into player who 'missed out on Liverpool move'

Ismaila Sarr has been slammed over his attitude towards Crystal Palace after missing out on their first three games of the season.

The 28-year-old had his heart set on a late move to Liverpool after Crystal Palace rejected their £50million offer, and was training alone at their Copers Cope training ground.

While the club have insisted he has missed out through injuries, Pierre Sage confessed it will take time for the Senegal international to be in the right headspace to return.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Sarr must honour his contract at Crystal Palace and prove he deserves a place in the starting XI.

The winger was among the Eagles' most important players last season, and finished as the top scorer in the Conference League, but has damaged his reputation among the fans.

The longer Sarr remains on the sidelines, the more frustrations will grow, and he has now been urged to "grow up", return to training, and get on with a return to action.

When will Ismaila Sarr return for Crystal Palace?

Brown told Football Insider on 3 September that Sarr must get his head down and prove he is content to stay at Crystal Palace, despite his clear intention to leave.

While the transfer window remains open in Saudi Arabia until 12 October, and the winger has suitors there, he is set to stay at Crystal Palace and must now prove his worth.

After Sage explained that Sarr "needs time" to process having missed out on his move away, questions have been asked about when he will finally return to the XI.

"Quite frankly, I am very annoyed by what I've seen from Ismaila Sarr," Brown told Football Insider.

"He's been such a good player for Crystal Palace, who gave him that platform to impress to the point where he's being

"But the longer he's not involved, the more ridiculous the situation becomes, because how long to you give him to get his head down and get back in training?

"He's under a long-term contract at Crystal Palace which he was more than happy to sign when they brought him in from Marseille.

"I can understand being disappointed after missing out on a move to Liverpool, they're a big club, but he has to grow up and get back to training alongside his teammates.

"He's letting himself down, he's letting his teammates down, and he's letting the club down by sulking and causing more problems.

"The manager has said he needs time to get over it before he returns, that's not the type of mentality I want to see from a player as important as he has been.

"And the longer it goes on for, the harder it's going to be for him to get those fans back on side, because wanting to leave is one thing, refusing to play is another entirely."

Could Liverpool return to sign Sarr in January?

After missing out on his desired move to Liverpool in the summer, all eyes have now shifted towards the January transfer window, when he may be allowed to leave.

Liverpool saw a £50million move rejected in the closing stages of the window, but subsequently failed to bring in another right-winger, delaying their plans.

Football Insider revealed on 5 Septmeber that Liverpool will consider making another move for Sarr in January if their current attacking options do not step up.

Cody Gakpo has enjoyed a strong start to the season on the right-hand side of Andoni Iraola's front three, and could ease their need to sign a new winger.

However, a lack of attacking depth could tempt the Reds to revisit their summer targets, with Sarr likely to be encouraging them to make a renewed offer.
