Sean Dyche emerges as front-runner for Crystal Palace job - 'From what I'm told...'
Sean Dyche is being tipped as the favourite to land the Crystal Palace job if they are to part ways with Pierre Sage.
The Frenchman is coming under increasing pressure at Selhurst Park following a 5-0 defeat to Brighton which saw him lose the support of large sections of the fanbase.
Questions have been asked about the Eagles' defensive stability and whether he is getting the best out of his players, and it may result in him losing his job.
As a result, former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Dyche would be the logical solution to Palace's problems given his previous record in the Premier League.
The former Nottingham Forest, Everton and Burnley boss has admirers on the board at Selhurst Park, and is now being backed to land the job should they decide to make a change.
Dyche has been out of work since he was sacked by Forest in February, but is believed to be open to the prospect of returning to the dugout, with Crystal Palace a potential landing spot.
Could Sean Dyche land the Crystal Palace job?
Football Insider revealed on 19 October that Crystal Palace are eyeing Dyche as one of three leading candidates for the job if they decide to pull the trigger on Sage.
Iain Moody, who is close to the Palace board, is believed to be a vocal backer of Dyche and his credentials, and would like to bring the former Everton boss to South London.
While there is still a way to go before Palace make a decision, with Sage still being backed as things stand, Dyche could become a clear front-runner for the position.
"Sean Dyche would be a good appointment for Palace, and from what I'm told, he does have admirers there," Brown told Football Insider.
"The biggest problem they're having under Pierre Sage is that they look so weak and disorganised defensively, and ultimately that's going to land them in a lot of trouble.
"So bringing in somebody who has proven in the Premier League that he can organise defenses and get the best out of his players is the logical next step for them to take.
"I think it's unfair to treat Dyche as a step back, or a less ambitious move, because he has a proven track record in the Premier League and he is a very good manager.
"Palace have got some top players at their disposal, they just need somebody who is going to get the best out of them, and I think Dyche can do that.
"So when you take all of that into consideration, I think Dyche will certainly be among the front runners for the job, if Palace decide to make a change."
How does Dyche feel about a return to management?
Dyche has been linked with a number of jobs in the Premier League and elsewhere since he left Nottingham Forest in February, but remains out of work as things stand.
Following his dismissal, he has taken time out of the game and regularly featured in a pundit role, but sources say he is now ready to take his next managerial job.
Football Insider revealed on 2 October that Dyche is ready to return to management and is eyeing a Premier League job, with multiple clubs now contemplating changes.
Despite having turned down multiple offers so far this year, he could be tempted to take over at a struggling club, with the Palace job likely to be firmly on his radar.
Palace have been long-term admirers of Dyche and have considered his appointment in the past, and he could now make the move to Selhurst Park if a vancancy opens up.
