Stefan Borson reveals the exact worth of Everton and Crystal Palace 'in valuation terms'

Published on:

Crystal Palace's owners have overvalued the club's valuation as rumours swirl around their future at Selhurst Park.

That is according to former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider that the current valuable seems "very high" compared to other Premier League clubs.

The Eagles are not the only ones with owners potentially looking for new buyers, with Everton and The Friedkin Group (TFG) at the centre of a media storm currently.

TFG are looking to sell after just 21 months in charge on Merseyside, with the Toffees being valued at £1billion after the Americans' investment.

While Palace's owners are simply seeking new investment, there is belief that the Raine Group could help to facilitate a full sale in South London.

Valuing the club at £900m could be an early hurdle for the owners, however, with more bang for your buck elsewhere in the division.

'Everton are worth 25 per cent more than Crystal Palace'

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson has warned Palace's owners that the club is worth "25 per cent" of what Everton are valued at.

"We found out a couple of weeks ago they were again potentially for sale. The ticket price there looks very, very high," he said.

"I think when you compare it say to the probable asking price on Everton, I think the suggestion that Palace could be worth something similar to Everton feels unlikely to me.

"The revenues are not dissimilar, largely because so much of the revenue these days comes out of broadcast revenue.

"But I think Everton, with the stadium and the potential that can be generated there, and the fact that it's brand new, I think is a more valuable club.

"Everton should be worth around about 20 to 25 per cent more than Crystal Palace in valuation terms. But the market will ultimately decide whether that's right or not."

Pierre Sage's future now a major talking point

While supporters are concerned over the owners' future, Pierre Sage's tenure is by far the more pressing issue at Selhurst Park right now.

Mick Brown has told Football Insider that the under-pressure manager has three weeks to save his job, while others believe the end is imminent.

It is believed that Sean Dyche is currently the front-runner to replace Sage, though Vitor Pereira and Thomas Frank are also in the frame.

Had it not been for a decent start in the Europa League, it might have already been over for the new manager at Selhurst Park.
