Crystal Palace are in the process of finalising a sensational deal for Royale Union Saint-Gilloise right-back Anan Khalaili.

It emerged on Monday that the 21-year-old has now completed a medical ahead of the move after a £21million bid was accepted.

The defender is now set to sign a contract until 2031 with the Eagles, which is set to contain the option of a further year.

Palace have beaten the likes of Nottingham Forest and Inter Milan to the deal, with the former club seeing a bid rejected back in July.

Now, Khalaili will be expected to compete for the right-back spot alongside Daniel Munoz.

However, the stats suggest that the Israel international could be a big improvement.

How good is Anan Khalaili?

Khalaili no doubt has had an excellent time in the Belgian Pro League.

During his two-year stay at Royale Union Saint-Gilloise, he has won three major honours, including a top-flight title during the 2024-25 campaign.

Sources have told Football Insider that Palace are close to pulling off a deal. According to the latest stats, it could be an excellent one.

According to Fotmob on 11 August, the right-back averaged 0.09 goals, a 0.10 xG, 0.15 assists, a 0.22 xA, 1.77 chances created, 0.41 big chances created, 1.42 successful dribbles with a 51.6 per cent overall success rate per 90 minutes in the league last season.

On top of this, he averaged 1.74 aerial duels won with a 67.4 per cent overall success rate, 2.00 tackles, 1.22 interceptions and 5.78 recoveries per 90 minutes in the Belgian Pro League.

In comparison, Munoz averaged 0.15 goals, a 0.09 xG, 0.11 assists, a 0.15 xA, 1.01 chances created, 0.30 big chances created, 0.07 successful dribbles with a 13.3 per cent overall success rate,1.65 aerial duels won with a 44.9 per cent overall success rate, 2.77 tackles, 0.97 interceptions and 3.63 recoveries per 90 minutes in the Premier League.

As a result, Khalaili appears better than the Palace right back at both ends of the pitch and could prove to be an excellent upgrade for Pierre Sage’s side.

Crystal Palace in advanced talks to agree 'world-class' signing

What other business could Palace conduct this summer?

Football Insider has exclusively revealed that Club Brugge are advancing in talks to sign Crystal Palace’s Romain Esse this summer.

The 21-year-old has struggled to make an impact at Selhurst Park since his £12m move, and he has now been allowed to move on.

Esse has attracted interest from a number of sides this transfer window, but it now appears that Club Brugge will win the race.

The forward spent the second half of last season on loan at Coventry City, where he helped the club win the Championship title.
