Former Tottenham and Liverpool star Danny Murphy has given his verdict on the title race between Spurs and Chelsea.
The gap at the top is now just four points following this weekend’s set of results as Spurs won and Chelsea lost.
Tottenham brushed aside Bournemouth to win 4-0 on Saturday, while Chelsea suffered a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Man United on Sunday.
Spurs have now won seven on the bounce, while the Blues have lost two of their last four in the league.
The side’s play each other in a massive FA Cup semi-final next Saturday, which is a mouth-watering prospect with the Premier League intrigue adding to an already high-profile tie.
Chelsea have a slightly better run in as they face Southampton, Everton, Middlesbrough, West Brom, Watford and Sunderland.
Tottenham have a few tricky encounters as their final six matches are against Crystal Palace, Arsenal, West Ham, Man United, Leicester and Hull.
Speaking on BBC 1’s Match of the Day 2 [Sunday, 10.30pm], Murphy said: “The run in is much more favourable towards Chelsea. I’d be amazed if they blow it from this position.
“But [Chelsea] do have two defeats in the last four – so there is some hope for Tottenham fans.”
Murphy only made 22 appearances in his time at Tottenham, although he did represent Liverpool more than 200 times in all competitions earlier in his career.
