Danny Wilson: Everyone wants this player to agree a new deal at Rangers
By Harvey Byrne
Rangers defender Danny Wilson has stated that “everyone wants” Kenny Miller to agree a new contract at the club.
The 37-year-old striker is currently tied down to a contract which runs out this summer after returning to Ibrox in 2014.
The player has shown at the late stages of his career that he still has what it takes to play at Premiership level with seven goals and four assists in 27 appearances in all competitions.
Now, teammate Wilson has shared that he hopes the club can secure Miller to a new long-term deal and stated that others feel the same way as he does.
“Everyone wants it to be sorted,” Wilson told the Mail. “And if you speak to Kenny he isn’t looking to go anywhere else. Hopefully, we don’t dwell and we get him sorted out because he’s massive for us.

“He showed against Motherwell why he is so important to the team — not just his goals, but his all-round performance.
“We were struggling to get goals and he came up with that wee bit of quality. Both his finishes were outstanding. You wouldn’t know his age if you watched his performances.
“But because he is getting on, he is probably looking after himself better than when he was younger.
“He’s very important to us and we are glad to have him. Hopefully we can hang onto him a bit longer.”
Rangers returned to cup action on Saturday with a tie against Motherwell at Ibrox following a winter break.
Miller was the star of the show with two goals in the last 10 minutes, ensuring his side a passage to the next round in the 2-1 victory.
He will be looking to continue his impressive form in the league and the Scottish giants will travel to face Motherwell in the league next on Saturday.
The Gers are facing a battle for second place in the table with Aberdeen and Hearts trailing two and eight points behind them respectively.
They have added Emerson Hyndman and Jon Toral to their side since their 2-1 New Years Eve defeat against Celtic and they will now be looking for a successful second half of the campaign.
Football Insider verdict:
Wilson is correct, Miller has more than justified a new contract with the Scottish giants after his displays this season. Experience is invaluable, especially at a now progressive club in Rangers who also have a number of young players in their squad. Miller is a huge asset in that sense and not only that, but he also contributes to his side when out on the pitch. It is clear that Rangers will have to one day move on from the striker and that day is expected to be sooner rather than later. However, he is still bringing something to Mark Warburton’s team and the Gers surely have to tie him up to a new deal.
