David Prutton believes that Aston Villa will record a narrow victory over Bristol City on Tuesday night in the Championship.
Steve Bruce’s side managed to end their run of five consecutive league defeat on Saturday when they responded against Derby.
The Midlands giants earned a narrow 1-0 win as James Chester scored the vital goal.
Meanwhile, Bristol City through away a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with Newcastle.
Sky Sports pundit Prutton has tipped Villa to win 2-1 on Tuesday and feels their opponents are in a tough relegation battle.
“It was a scrappy goal that beat Derby on Saturday, but a scrappy goal was exactly what Aston Villa needed,” Prutton said, as quoted by Sky Sports. “You fear for Bristol City a little bit now. They were fantastic for 45 minutes at Newcastle but their squad doesn’t have that depth and they couldn’t hold on.
“It was still a good result at St James’ but I think it will be tough for them at Villa Park.”
Villa will be desperate to build on the three points they gained against Derby and help them climb the league table.
They are 17th in the Championship and have a healthy eight-point gap above the relegation places, with a game in hand.
The club’s January signings are continuing to settle and Bruce will surely be looking to build some momentum ahead of a promotion push next season.
Bristol City find themselves just one place above the drop zone and will be desperately fighting in every match.
They will be confident going into the Villa game after recoding a 3-1 victory in the previous meeting this season.
In other Aston Villa news, the club’s 28-year-old was named in the EFL team of the week after his performance against Derby.
