David Unsworth has named Liam Walsh, Joe Williams and Beni Baningime as the next three Everton academy stars in line to step up to the first team.

The Toffees Under-23s have won the Premier League 2 this season under the guidance of Unsworth after winning 15 of their 21 youth fixtures.

The likes of Tom Davies, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Mason Holgate and Ademola Lookman have all been rewarded for their efforts with the youngsters this campaign and have been placed within Ronald Koeman’s Premier League team on numerous occasions.

Now, Unsworth has revealed that he is already thinking who will be next to make the step up and has named the three next in line.

“They are lovely moments,” told Unsworth to the Daily Mail.

“But, in all honesty, I’m thinking, ‘Who’s next? How are we going to get Liam Walsh or Joe Williams or Beni Baningime in?’. They are the next three. They are the ones fighting for Tom’s shirt in the first team.

“They are top players. We want them there as quickly as possible. I’m in a rush to get them into the first team.

“The lads are in a rush to be Everton players. That is the way it should be. They don’t want to play for me, they want to play for the first team.”

Each of Walsh, Williams and Baningime are midfielders, which is a position currently occupied by Davies, Morgan Schneiderlin and Idrissa Gueye in the Everton senior team.

The trio are also helping the first team side perform well in the Premier League table and Koeman’s outfit sit in a strong seventh place after 34 matches following a couple of mediocre seasons under former boss Roberto Martinez.

However, if Everton do have more numbers to breakthrough into the first team then Koeman could find that the club progresses up the top-flight without having to spend a penny.
