More details have emerged of the potential Sanchez deal between Arsenal and Manchester United, with a report claiming it will be a straight swap.
Reports have detailed that Alexis Sanchez would move to Arsenal, who would be offered Henrikh Mkhitaryan in return.
However, it was said before that the United playmaker would be a makeweight in the deal.
Now it seems that it will be a straight swap, with no fee involved, according to Sky Sports transfer blog. (14.04)
They claim that the move hinges on Mkhitaryan agreeing terms with Arsenal, after his agent Mino Raiola said, “Sanchez is part of Mkhi’s deal. Not the other way around. Without him Sanchez simply cannot go to United.”
They say that if agreement is reached, that the deal with be a “straight swap and will not include any fee for Sanchez.”
Football Insider verdict:
Does this seem like a fair deal? Mkhitaryan signed for Man United for a fee close to £38million in the summer of 2016. It’s fair to say his stock has dropped since then, but even at £30million it probably evens out the value of Sanchez, who can leave on a free deal in the summer. The big issues could be Mkhitaryan’s wages, but although the report claims this all hinges on Mkhitaryan agreeing terms, it also hinges on how badly  Jose Mourinho wants Sanchez. He’s getting a world-class player who can destroy Premier League defences and, maybe more crucially, getting one over on his noisy neighbours and Per Guardiola.
In other Arsenal transfer news, it has been reported that the Gunners are offering one of their strikers as makeweight to secure this European ace.
