Everton defender Tyias Browning has agreed to join Preston North End on loan until the end of the season.
The 22-year-old has failed to make a single first-team appearance under Ronald Koeman this season, and has been allowed to join the Championship club in pursuit of more regular opportunities.
However, Koeman still sees Browning as an important part of his long-term plans, with the former England youth international signing a new two-and-a-half-year deal prior to his loan move.
The double deal was announced by Everton on their official Twitter account on Monday afternoon.

Browning can have an important role to play for Preston over the remainder of the season, with Simon Grayson’s side chasing a shock promotion to the Premier League.
The north West club are currently 10th in the Championship, just four points behind the play-off places. However, Preston have struggled for clean sheets this season, and have added Browning to bolster their defensive options.
He may have to wait to make his debut, however, as the transfer was confirmed after the midday deadline for Preston to register players for Tuesday’s clash with Cardiff.
Nevertheless, the loan deal continues Ronald Koeman’s winter clear-out at Everton, following the departures of Tom Cleverley, Oumar Niasse and Gerard Deulofeu earlier this month.
Football Insider verdict
There is little issue to find with this deal. Browning is a player with a bright future, and Everton are right to tie him down to a new long-term deal. However, at the same time, he needs to playing regularly to fulfil his full potential, so sending him out on loan is another good decision. Preston is an excellent club for him to develop, and he can learn a lot from manager Simon Grayson in the next six months. His progress was hit last season when he suffered a knee injury, but now has a prime opportunity to regain his fitness and fight his way back into contention at Goodison Park for next season.
