German side 1860 Munich have confirmed the signing of Croatian international Ivica Olic, despite interest from England.
German newspaper Bild had reported that Championship new boys Newcastle and Aston Villa were looking to snap up the veteran striker, after becoming a free agent this summer.
However, the versatile forward, who has scored 133 goals in his career, has opted for a move to the second tier of German football with The Lions.

The 36-year-old was without a club after his deal with German outfit HSV Hamburger ran out, making just nine league appearances last season.
The trophy-laden star has been a domestic champion on six different occasions, the last coming in 2010 with German giants Bayern Munich.
Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez is keen to add a striker to his attacking ranks at St. James’ Park, after losing experienced Senegalese striker Papiss Cisse, who moved to China this summer.
Former Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo was also keen on Olic, as he looks to address the lack of goals scored at Villa Park.
His forwards found the back of the net just 27 times in the league last term, and according to the Daily Mail, star-striker Jordan Ayew has been linked with an £8million move away.
In other Newcastle transfer news, this young star is desperate to recover from injury and give Benitez’s attack some bite.
