Kevin Campbell is adamant Shkodran Mustafi will not be at Arsenal beyond this season.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gunners striker and well-connected father of Stoke City ace Tyrese Campbell is adamant the 28-year-old’s time at Emirates Stadium is drawing to a close.
Mustafi has entered the final seven months of his Arsenal contract, which expires next June.
Asked by Football Insider if the Germany international will leave the Londoners next summer, Campbell said:
“That is a done deal. I think it is a done deal from both sides.
“Mustafi has taken a lot of stick in the past. It is difficult for players to take but we know what fans are like. If you make the mistake the fans will be on you but if you play well they will pat you on the back.
“That is just the way high level football is right now. We have all suffered it.
“If you have a bad game you can suddenly be the worst thing since slice bread. Mustafi has had a good run at Arsenal but it is definitely coming to an end.”
Mustafi has made 145 appearances for Arsenal since signing from Valencia in the summer of 2016 for a fee of around £37million.
Capped 20 times by Germany, the experienced centre-back has slipped down the pecking order under Mikel Arteta and has made just three appearances this season.
That has been partly due to a knee injury that he appears fully recovered from after featuring in the last three matches against Man United, Dundalk and Leicester City.
