Liverpool have won the race to sign Hull City left-back Andrew Robertson, according to a report.
The Mirror claim the Reds will announce the signing of the 23-year-old when the summer transfer window opens on July 1.
With Robertson’s imminent arrival, Jurgen Klopp looks to have solved his left-back problem, and will be expected to announce further reinforcements as the summer goes on.
The 14-time Scotland international, who only has a year left on his deal, has been at Hull three years and has made 113 league and cup appearances for the club.
This term he has been a mainstay of Hull’s defensive unit, and has made 37 appearances in all competitions.
The report also states Klopp may table an offer for Robertson’s teammate, Harry Maguire.
Liverpool representatives have been in contact with former players at Hull to get inside knowledge on his character.
Football Insider verdict
Klopp looks to have solved his left-back problem with the reported signing of Robertson, which will come as a relief to James Milner. The Scotsman has been one of the Tigers’ top performers this term, attracting many potential suitors, but the Reds seem to have won the race. He is an attacking left-back who can provide a dangerous delivery, and he is defensively solid too. After making more than 50 Premier League appearances with Hull, the Reds will hope he is comfortable in the league, and ready to make the step up into a top-four side.
In other Liverpool transfer news, Klopp is “increasingly confident” he will sign this Brazilian ace.
