Leeds’ Head of Physical Performance Sean Rush dropped a strong hint that young midfielder Alex Purver is leaving the club on Monday afternoon.
The 21-year-old has spent the last campaign on loan at National League side Guiseley, where he played 26 times in total, returning two goals.
He has not yet played for the Leeds senior team in a competitive match, but there were high hopes for him after he featured for the club in last summer’s pre-season matches while also previously captaining the Under-21 team.
However, it now looks like his days at the Yorkshire giants have come to an end with fitness chief Rush paying tribute to him on his personal Twitter account on Monday afternoon.

Leeds do have a good record of bringing academy players through their ranks and into the senior team and in recent history Lewie Coyle, Tyler Denton, Kalvin Phillips, Charlie Taylor and Ronaldo Vieira have all made the step up.
However, it now looks as though Purver, who can occupy the right and left-wing spots as well as his more natural central midfield position will not be joining that list of names.
The Yorkshire giants are currently looking to progress from this season’s seventh placed finish under manager Garry Monk and Purver may not have fit in to where the team are hoping to get to.
In other Leeds transfer news, the Whites are in a three-horse race to sign this top-flight captain.
