Exclusive: Danny Mills reacts as four Leeds transfer targets named by chief
Danny Mills has questioned why Leeds United chief Angus Kinnear has revealed the club’s failed transfer approaches during the January window.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, the former Leeds and England defender suggests that the senior figure is just trying to appease supporters by lifting the lid on their targets last month.
Speaking after the close of the window, Kinnear revealed that the Whites had explored deals for strikers Andre Gray, Che Adams and Dwight Gayle, as well as winger Jarrod Bowen.
With none of the aforementioned names making their way to Elland Road, Mills is perplexed as to why the chief executive has decided to admit who they were chasing deals for.
Mills told Football Insider: “You start to think how serious were they? Is it an attempt to appease the fans? I don’t know. Why are you coming out now and saying these things, what benefit is it to anybody?
“‘Oh look, we did try, honestly, promise. We really did try to get other players in and we couldn’t make it happen.’ Well, I don’t see the point in that to be honest, is that just trying to appease the fans?

“I don’t think it really does because they’ll say why didn’t they come? Were you not prepared to pay the money or why didn’t we get these players in? I think that’ll be what part of the worry is.”
Leeds brought in two senior signings before the window slammed shut, with Ian Poveda joining on a permanent deal from Manchester City and Jean-Kevin Augustin from RB Leipzig on loan.
The Whites, sitting second in the table, have lost four of their last five Championship fixtures and now find themselves level on points with Fulham in third.
In other Leeds United news, it can be REVEALED the club are chasing a deal for a soon to be available Championship sensation.
