Wrexham to net 'up to £20m' from new deal as Ryan Reynolds condition revealed

Wrexham are in line to potentially earn up to £20million from their new partnership with Firefox.

That is according to former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who believes that the Championship outfit have struck a "fantastic" deal with the browser company.

The Red Dragons have sealed a deal for Firefox to become their front-of-shirt sponsor, which looks set to bring in huge figures in sponsorship money.

Wyness believes that the agreement will be worth an initial £10m, and feels that bonuses will be tied to "visibility" as the club continues to grow.

The North Wales outfit are hoping to push for promotion to the Premier League once again this term, having narrowly missed out on a play-off spot last time out.

Wyness has made it clear that if Phil Parkinson's men can reach the top flight, then that will see the value of their deal with Firefox spike even further.

Ryan Reynolds' role in Firefox deal

Everton’s former chief Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that Wrexham owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney will have agreed to do "media appearances" for Firefox as part of the agreement.

The Scottish businessman has hailed the actors for the way that they have used their profiles to agree deals in recent years.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider's Inside Track podcast, Wyness explained some of the likely details behind the Firefox sponsorship.

"Look, fantastic. They've been able to create that revenue, and full marks to the owners for doing that. The documentary series has been hugely successful, and the attraction of the way they've done their social media has been huge," he said.

"They used every skill they can to get that money in to support the club. I think they could be getting up to £10m (from Firefox) right now. And if they were to be promoted, there could be bonus clauses in there that could get them up to £20m.

"It'll all be tied to visibility and how much the brand is seen in different channels. Obviously there's got to be a link to Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, and there'll be some sort of agreement.

"They'll be doing a certain number of media appearances for them. So all these things are getting quite complex now in terms of the way they're done.

"They deserve to get the success in my view right now. But nevertheless, yes, it's an eye-catching number for a club like Wrexham to get these sort of deals, but it's all thanks to the hard work and the groundbreaking media stuff that the club is doing."

Sources: Wrexham turn attention to Mark Travers deal as Coventry City move stalls

Wrexham turn attention to Mark Travers deal

Football Insider recently revealed that Wrexham have joined the race to sign Everton goalkeeper Mark Travers this summer.

They are now battling Coventry City for the 27-year-old, who is currently serving as understudy to Jordan Pickford.

Wrexham are on the hunt for a new goalkeeper ahead of the new season, after Parkinson dropped Arthur Okonkwo in the latter stages of 2025-26.

Travers is keen to take on a new challenge this summer, having played just two competitive games since making the switch to Merseyside last year.
