'I told Millwall to sign Celtic's new hero Kasper Hogh and Antonio Nusa but never got a response back' - legendary scout

Kasper Hogh and Antonio Nusa may well have been Millwall players if they had taken advice given years ago.

That is according to experienced former Everton, Tottenham and Aston Villa scout, Bryan King, speaking exclusively to Football Insider.

Both players have been topics of the transfer window this summer, with the 25-year-old having joined Celtic in an £11million deal from Bodo/Glimt.

Hogh scored a hattrick in just his second appearance for the Hoops on Sunday, and looks as if he could well be the next big thing in Scottish football.

Nusa, 21, has been linked with several clubs this summer including Premier League champions Arsenal, but RB Leipzig are keen to keep hold of him.

The winger is under contract until 2029 and does not appear to be in a rush to leave, having only arrived in the Bundesliga in 2024.

Kasper Hogh deal was a 'snip' for Celtic

Hogh burst onto the scene last season when he scored against Manchester City, Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan in the Champions League.

Much of the Bodo/Glimt team caught the eye, and Norway's run to the World Cup quarter-final further exhibited the quality on offer.

Hogh is Danish, but has made his name in Norwegian football and may well lead a string of top talents to move to bigger European leagues.

"He's a Danish boy who Bodo/Glimt bought in for very low money. They're going to have made £14m," King, who has spent years scouting in Norway, told Football Insider.

"I mean, in today's market, that's a snip, isn't it? And to get involved in your second game and score three goals in the first 45 minutes, signs are that you might score a few goals in Scotland.

"Bodo/Glimt have been showing the last two or three seasons what they can do in Europe, and these boys that have been playing have all done well against top, top sides. I mean, Man City, Tottenham, Atletico Madrid, Juventus, Monaco, they've all produced good performances, and it's a difficult place to go and play.

"They play on the AstroTurf.  It can be cold up there during the football season, but they've all got good attitudes. They fight. They don't worry about the harsh conditions in November and December. They just get on with it.

"You know, I recommended him [Hogh] to Millwall about four years ago. I just sent in a list of some players, and he was on that list, as was the boy Nusa, but I never got an answer back.

"It's not the same people there now as there was when I sent that info on to him, but I never heard anything back at all."

Norwegian football is an untapped market

Plenty of quality players have come from Norwegian football in recent years, with Hogh appearing to be the latest.

And there are certainly plenty more to be found, with clubs in the Premier League, Championship and Scottish Premiership having underutilised it.

The striker could well lead a new wave now, with scouts to be sent back to Scandinavia.

Hogh could well have ended elsewhere, but Celtic are now set to benefit by being the first the leap.
