Sources: West Brom agree deal for Celtic's Gavin Strachan
West Bromwich Albion have agreed a deal for Celtic first-team coach Gavin Strachan to join their coaching staff, sources have told Football Insider.
The Baggies are working to add fresh faces to James Morrison's backroom team, and have now moved to get Strachan through the door.
The 47-year-old has been identified as a strong candidate to join Morrison's team, and a deal is now in place for him to move to The Hawthorns.
He has been part of the coaching staff at Parkhead since 2020, but is now set to move south of the border for the next stage of his coaching career.
Morrison was recently appointed as West Brom's permanent manager after an impressive interim stint, and the club are trying to supply him with a strong coaching team.
With a deal now agreed for Strachan to move to the Championship side, it is a matter of time before the switch is confirmed.
Gavin Strachan's experience in the EFL
The son of ex-Celtic boss Gordon Strachan, the 47-year-old has become a well-regarded member of the coaching team at Celtic Park since he first stepped into his job.
However, he now looks set to become part of the major overhaul for the Glasgow giants this summer, both on a playing and staffing level.
West Brom are within touching distance of getting their move for him over the line, as they look set to bring him back to the EFL for the first time since 2020.
The former midfielder enjoyed stints with the likes of Coventry City, Notts County and Hartlepool United during his playing career, and has also frequently coached in League One.
He previously served as assistant to Darren Ferguson at both Doncaster Rovers and Peterborough United, so he is no stranger to the EFL.
West Brom will be eyeing a significant improvement on the pitch this term, and they are about to land Strachan to help them achieve that.
West Brom agree deal for Chelsea starlet
Football Insider revealed last weekend that West Brom have agreed a deal to sign Chelsea starlet Jimmy-Jay Morgan on a permanent basis.
The striker caught the eye with 14 goals during his loan spell with Peterborough last term, and the Baggies are now about to take him to the Championship.
A full agreement is in place with all parties, and official confirmation of the transfer is expected to come within the next few days.
West Brom are determined to avoid another relegation battle next term, and they believe that Morgan is the kind of player who can help them push on.
