West Brom have agreed a deal to sign Chelsea forward Jimmy-Jay Morgan on a permanent transfer, sources have told Football Insider.

A full agreement has been reached with Chelsea and with the player, and a formal announcement is expected to be made by the club next week.

The 20-year-old striker spent the 2025-26 season on loan at Peterborough United, where he impressed with his performances in League One.

West Brom are now willing to hand him the opportunity to make the step up to Championship football, with plans to improve their squad after a frustrating season.

Morgan's pathway into the first team squad at Chelsea has narrowed, and following the arrival of Xabi Alonso, new signings are likely to push him further down the pecking order.

Chelsea have been open to letting him leave permanently this summer, and despite a number of clubs being put on alert, West Brom have moved quickly to agree a deal.

Why have West Brom pursued Jimmy-Jay Morgan?

Football Insider exclusively revealed on 13 June that West Brom were in advanced talks with Morgan with efforts being accelerated to bring him to The Hawthorns.

A breakthrough in negotiations meant talks were advancing, and just one day later a full agreement has been reached for his transfer.

Morgan netted 12 goals in 34 League One appearances last time out and helped his side avoid relegation, attracting interest from clubs higher up the EFL.

West Brom, meanwhile, are in need of a new forward to fix their shortage of depth in attacking areas, with Morgan capable of playing as a striker, winger, or attacking midfielder.

The Chelsea youngster has also been keen to complete a move and play more regular football in the Championship after his impressive League One performances.

Who else are West Brom closing in on this summer?

Morgan is not the only young player the Baggies are set to bring in this summer, as they have moved quickly to secure deals for players in key positions.

Football Insider revealed on 13 June that West Brom have agreed a deal to sign Carter Pinnington from Liverpool, and have reached an agreement on personal terms.

Much like Morgan, Pinnington is very highly rated and had a number of teams chasing his signature, but Albion have moved first to do a deal.

The centre-back has no first-team experience yet, but will be given the opportunity to shine at The Hawthorns as part of a new-look squad under James Morrison.

Pinnington has previously been compared to fellow Liverpool academy gradudate Jarell Quansah, and his arrival at West Brom appears to be a major coup.
