Elliot Anderson spot-on in message to Neco Williams as Nottingham Forest award-winner named

Neco Williams is being deservedly noticed for another incredible campaign at full-back for Nottingham Forest.

The Welshman has often been underrated during his time at the City Ground, but he is now a fan favourite amongst the Reds, becoming one of the team’s most important players this season.

With two goals and four assists in 53 games, he is just as key in the final third as he is defensively, earning interest from several Premier League clubs ahead of the summer transfer window.

To finish the season, Forest drew 1-1 with Bournemouth on Sunday, 24 May, and after the full-time whistle, supporters were able to show their appreciation for their Player of the Season.

Neco Williams is being noticed for his Nottingham Forest performances

Williams was crowned Forest’s Player of the Season for 2025-26, walking out onto the pitch after the draw with the Cherries to accept his award. The love doesn’t just stop there.

Elliot Anderson, who has been just as impressive this season, made his feelings clear over the award, taking to Instagram stories to congratulate his teammate (24 May).

The exit-linked midfielder wrote: “Thoroughly deserved, bro, great season,” with a clapping emoji, and that is exactly what the City Ground faithful are all thinking about the full-back’s campaign.

To make it even more impressive, Williams is usually a right-back, but because of injuries and lack of options, the 25-year-old has been forced to play on the opposite side for the majority of the campaign.

Who could the Forest full-back join this summer?

Understandably, Forest’s rivals are keeping tabs on Williams’ situation.

Keith Wyness told Football Insider that Everton are unlikely to sign Williams, but a deal would certainly make sense after Seamus Coleman’s exit and Jake O’Brien’s struggles out of position.

Vitor Pereira and Evangelos Marinakis are likely to be batting away offers for the Welshman, who continues to prove himself for club and country.

There have even been links with a move back to Liverpool as a replacement for Andy Robertson, but the player is unlikely to want to play second-fiddle to Milos Kerkez next season.

Williams has deserved his spot in the starting lineup, and unless another club can promise regular minutes in more competitions, the Reds might not have to worry about losing him.
